Tuition Waivers
Apprenticeship Waivers
One-half of the standard per credit tuition and services/activities fees may be waived upon approval from the appropriate authorizing body. Eligible students must be residents of Washington State.

Athletic Waivers
Up to 25 percent of the established resident tuition rate at 15 credits. The waiver is available to grant-in-aid-eligible resident and non-resident student athletes.

Non-Resident Tuition Waiver
- U.S. citizens and/or those approved as permanent residents of the United States are automatically eligible for the non-resident waiver.

Space Available Waivers
Enrollment is permitted if a seat is available on the first day of the second week of the quarter; instructors must sign an add/drop form (PDF) authorizing enrollment into the class.
- Restrictions:
- This waiver cannot be used for Distance Learning WAOL classes.
- Early registration is not allowed; students enrolled prior to the second week of classes are not eligible for this waiver.
- Enrollment in programs that are competitive, example: Nursing, Respiratory Care, etc.
- Senior Citizens: tuition and services/activities fees may be waived for Washington state residents sixty years or older who are enrolled for credit in no more than two courses per quarter.
- State Employees: tuition and services/activities fees may be waived for state employees employed half-time or more. EXCEPTIONS: Permanent classified employees of Washington Public School districts under the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (SPI) are not state employees for the purpose of this tuition waiver program. Highline may give preference to its own employees before considering waivers for eligible persons not employed by the college.

Veterans Waivers
Eligible military or naval veterans must be a Washington domiciliary.
- Veterans or National Guard Members – Highline will waive 10% of the tuition charges for eligible students
- Children/Spouse of Totally Disabled or POW/MIA or Deceased Eligible Veterans or National Guard Members – Effective fall quarter 2007, Highline will waive all tuition and fees for the children and spouse of totally disabled or POW/MIA or deceased eligible veterans or National Guard Members. To apply, use the Chapter 35 Tuition Waiver form found on the HCC Veterans website.
